Sometime in the late 60’s a happy studio accident created an enigmatic, captivating effect and the “flange” sound was born. While many will debate who “originally created” the process, one thing is known: flanging is the sound many people mistake for “a chorus I like!” and while the two processes are closely related, they are fundamentally different and have remained separate effects since the birth of chorus effects units sometime in the mid-70’s.
That is… until the Mod.One.
The Mod.One was designed from scratch with the express purpose and intent of capturing, creating and combining three related time-based effects into a single unit. With meticulous consideration and deliberate design choices, the Mod.One combines chorus, flanger, and high-band flanger into a single time-modulation powerhouse not only cable of excelling at each sound on their own, but also offering the ability to blend and morph between these sounds on the fly!
And its analog.
But we didn’t stop there... Mod.One’s powerful analog-modulation core is further expanded by radically dialing up the performance, greatly improving the limited fidelity and headroom available within a BBD (bucket-brigade device), adding multiple waveforms for which to modulate time by, and including über-precise tap-tempo!
Five powerful controls give you precise control of your modulated signal, allowing you to quickly, easily and precisely dial in a liquid chorus, swirling flange, or airy high-band flange, and then blend these sounds together to create all-new time-modulation tones, which can then be dramatically intensified via a clever and novel control, aptly titled Enhance.
A wide-range LFO stretches out to a maximum period of 20 seconds via tap-tempo, which is then applied to your choice of six distinct waveforms, and displayed in real-time.
Add in 2nd generation Click-Less relay true-bypass, high-endurance non-volatile storage, and a sleek and sexy finish and you’ve got the glorious result of over 15 years of specialized analog design experience combined with an obsessive devotion to BBD circuits, realized with contemporary RoHS compliant, tight-tolerance premium-grade passives and semiconductors.
