Gibson Custom 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue Double Gold Bigsby Ultra Light Aged GH
From Gibson Custom’s “Greatest Hits Collection” comes this stunningly reimagined take on the 1968 Les Paul Custom. Made in very limited numbers and absolutely made to get noticed, the double Gold Custom Nitrocellulose finish pops both coming and going. Featuring Gibson’s Murphy Lab’s ultra-light ageing process to have the look of a well-cared-for, but nearly 60-year-old guitar, mild weather checking, and minor play marks add to the striking visual presentation. Another great-looking, as well as functional, appointment is the Gold Bigsby vibrato, mounted without stop-bar bushings for a factory custom-order look and fit.
Underneath the standout looks, Gibson Custom’s painstakingly accurate attention to detail from headstock to end pin brings the celebrated 1968 Les Paul Custom to life. Players of all kinds will appreciate the not-too-big, not-too-small medium “C” neck carve (.88” at the nut, up to a hand filling 1.015” thickness at the 12th fret. The slick Ebony fingerboard is inlaid with mother-of-pearl block markers and features precision-seated, pleck’d vintage Jumbo Jescar 45100 fret wire. The ’68 reissue Les Paul Custom also features a period-correct, relaxed 14-degree headstock angle, adding a slinky feel to the smooth double-sprayed neck. Naturally, the split-diamond, bound headstock, 7-ply top, 5-ply back binding, and gold hardware define the Les Paul Custom model’s premium aesthetics—while the gold waffle back machine heads with tulip tuner buttons set the ’68 apart. A matched pair of Gibson Custom Alnico 68 custom buckers with gold covers produces a bright and articulate tone, even with a heavily driven amp.
The Gibson Custom 1968 Reissue Double Gold with Bigsby (pictured) weighs 10.01lbs, comes with a Custom Shop hardshell case, and a Certificate of Authenticity. Available now, only while supplies last.
