About Collector's Series Jazz
The DW Jazz Series™ were inspired by a 20th century form that is uniquely American. These shells feature a 3-ply Gumwood core for round tone that's suitable for bebop to pop in live and studio environments.
Hybrid Gum Shells
These 7-ply Hybrid Gum shells start with a 3-ply core of thick 1/20" Gumwood, which is sandwiched between Maple, Mahogany, or Cherry plies without reinforcement hoops. The result is a brighter tone with medium sustain.
Bearing Edge
These shells are cut with the same vintage-style, rounded “butter” bearing edge as the Classics Series with an outer round over and a 60-degree inner edge. This edge enhances the shell's range and resonance.
